Work completed on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM. I've come back here again after just four days. Today, I set up my easel over on the right side, where the mountain casts its shadow. It’s a weekday, which makes it so wonderful. When will such happiness to paint like this at the tail end of April ever come again? Rapidly filling the canvas, I transfer memories that, once today passes, can never return. Starting work right away without a moment to rest—straight into it with the brush, go go. It was completed in just a little over an hour and a half. If I hadn't come here and painted in person like this, a corner of my heart would have been left with lingering regret and an inexplicable sense of heaviness. ... Searching for a Scene from a Masterpiece September 2— Despite the lingering late-summer heatwave, I set out in search of a landscape straight out of a painting. Once I actually got out, there wasn't really a good spot with shade. And truly, it was. With a perceived temperature close to 40°C (104°F), plein air painting is exhausting no matter how much shade there is. Memories of doing plein air work in the scorching heat last year, practically swallowing the blazing weather for two solo exhibitions, still linger in my body—making me feel breathless, nauseous, and utterly drained of strength. This year has certainly been just as sweltering as last year, if not more. The geographical limitation of lacking high mountains, valleys, and rivers makes finding shade and resting spots difficult. Charmed by the breathtaking beauty of the Old Geoje Bridge. A bridge built 55 years ago (opened on April 8, 1971) has more architectural beauty and style than the New Geoje Bridge built 27 years ago, several decades later.   Captured at 4:40 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2026. At the time of its opening, it connected Sinchon-ri, Yongnam-myeon, Tongyeong-gun and Sadung-myeon, Geoje-gun. My Favorite: Myeongsa Beach August 26, 2025 (Tue) — Plein-air painting in the scorching heat With shallow waters, fine sand, gentle waves, and a decent view—above all, the shade and beauty of a large, majestic pine tree stretching its thick branches out toward the sea create an atmosphere and style that are truly beyond description. There is a wooden deck in the middle where you can get a great view of the entire landscape, which is wonderful. The large pine tree wooden platform is truly a stroke of genius. It is a place with its own unique charm... The scenery alone is absolute art. Someday, I want to stand right here fully equipped and paint the sunset landscape. Capturing a mood in a small format is both challenging and far from easy. Thinking of it as just a study piece, I set to work. Even though the weather is a bit chilly, three village grandmothers drop by and strike up various conversations with me. ...
